How much grit do you use?

How much grit do you get?
If you follow our usage instructions, there is enough rock tumbling grit to tumble 15 lbs of rock.
Can you re-use the grit?
No, you can not re-use the grit. But you can rinse off the plastic poly pellets and ceramic tumbling media.
Ceramic Tumbling Media Questions
What are the ceramic cylinders used for? How much do I use?
They are used to fill your barrel to 3/4 full if you do not have enough rocks to fill the barrel. They will protect your stones and also quiet the tumbling.
What is the size of the filler material?
We have two sizes of ceramic: small cylinders are 3/16" diameter by 3/8" long and large cylinders are 3/8" diameter by 5/8" long. We also sell a mixture of the two sizes. People have different preferences of what they use. The larger ones fill the most space and the smaller ones get into the nooks and crannies of the tumbler.
Can you reuse the filler material? Can I use them in all stages?
The ceramic cylinders can be used in all stages, if they are thoroughly washed between stages. If you are using fresh cylinders, be sure to use them in the earlier tumbling stages first, before using them in the final polishing stages. Using them earlier will knock any rough edges off the porcelain ceramic cylinders that could possibly scratch your rocks.
What tumblers can I use this in?
It can be used in any tumblers, including vibratory tumblers.
Are these compatible with any brand of tumbling grit?
Yes.

Plastic Poly Filler Tumbling Media Questions
What are the plastic pellets used for? How much do I use?
They are used to fill your barrel to 3/4 full if you do not have enough rocks to fill the barrel. They will protect your stones and also quiet the tumbling.
What is the size of the filler material?
The plastics pellets are approximately 1/8" (3 mm).
Can you reuse the filler material? Can I use them in all stages?
The plastic poly pellets can be reused but only use them in the same grit stage that you used then in before. Grit gets embedded in the plastic and can never be fully removed. You can use them in all stages.
What tumblers can I use this in?
It is primarily used in rotary tumblers.
Are these compatible with any brand of tumbling grit?
Yes.
What is different about your plastic poly pellets?
We use a higher density impact polypropylene so it is more resistant to the beating it takes in your tumbler. Also, we use virgin poly beads produced in the USA.
